November 17th marks World Baklava Day, and what better day than this to launch my website, where I bake handmade Baklava with love, from my kitchen to you! Whilst Baklava can be enjoyed any time of the year, this National Baklava Day is day to honour and celebrate this delicious syrup- laden dessert that has been enjoyed for centuries.
BAKLAVA pronounced Bah-Klah-Vah, is by far the most famous Turkish Dessert, with its shape and current recipe developed during the Ottoman Empire. In Turkiye, it is traditionally prepared by stuffing pistachios or walnuts between layers of buttered yufka or fillo pastry, which is then baked and doused in an infused syrup.
The city of Gaziantep, in southern eastern Turkiye is famous for its baklava, particularly those with pistachios, and widely renown as the native city and birthplace of this traditional sweet.
Although it can be found everywhere, it's very hard to do well and best eaten fresh out of the oven.
Whether you would like to order some freshly baked baklava from my Kitchen, or have a go at making this delicious creation at home, may you indulge in some delectable Baklava in honour of this Day. Check out our socials to see our Baklava creations, we would love to connect with you.
Love Sev xoxo
PS Life is short, EAT the Baklava <3
