Hi !

I'm Sevda , aka Sev , and I am the founder of Sev's Kitchen.

Sevda is a name of Turkish Origin and translates to 'passion' or 'a strong love' and this is a perfect way to describe me, as I am passionate in all I do.

I grew up in the Western Suburbs of Sydney part of my Big Turkish Family, where food was such a big part of my life, as cooking was love made visible, and food would be enjoyed and shared with loved ones to nourish the body and the soul .

I spent many years working in hospitality at the family restaurant whilst I completed my Bachelor of Business, and went on to succeed across various leadership roles in Banking & Finance as well as Aged Care Industries.

I moved to Mudgee a few years ago to follow my husband's career, and have absolutely loved this shift to the country lifestyle. In March 2023, after months of being told about the untapped market here for Authentic Turkish Sweets, I chose to start a business of my own, as a creative avenue to share my Authenticity and Turkish culture with the local community. And there you have it, Sev's Kitchen was born! This business has taken off far better than I ever imagined, with over 140+ 5 star customer reviews already, and also having made it as a finalist in the Australian Womens Small Business Champion Awards for the Baking category.

 

I use family recipes and techniques that were passed down from my beautiful mother and grandmother, and love to support local farmers and businesses in my ingredients and packaging. I have also added a modern twist to the traditional recipes, by introducing new flavours each month and also offering Gluten Free and Vegan Options to my customers. In addition, Sev's Kitchen has evolved since inception, where we now offer a selection of Turkish Delight, Tea Varieties, and treasured gifts such as our gorgeous handmade Evil Eye Candles, Evil Eye Mugs, Crystal Tea Strainers and Teapots. Pleased that our Turkish Teas are also award winning and loved by so many customers around Australia.  

Outside of work, I am a proud wife to my amazing and supportive husband - who is our quality control manager :P. I also have the greatest responsibility of all which is my role as a loving mother to my two precious girls, who are my motivation every day to succeed. I hope to inspire my girls and all women to stay true to their authentic selves, and to achieve anything their heart desires. I too have 1 fur baby staffy x mastiff called Kaos (husbands name choice ) who lives up to his name in every way.
